He replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20
I’ve been thinking about Joshua and his mandate to “be strong and courageous.” He was told seven times. What does it take to have courage? My opinion is that it takes faith. And what force is strong enough to move the hand of such a powerful, almighty God? Faith. “Without faith, it is impossible to please God.” Hebrews 11:6
I want unshakable faith. For those of you that saw the Billy Graham story last night on tv, he shared about a time his faith was shaken and he didn’t know whether to believe the Word of God was infallible or not. He was tormented until one night he went out into the woods and placed his Bible on a stump and said, “God, I’m going to accept this Bible is Your word and it is all true by FAITH, just like I received your salvation by faith.” It was a defining moment for him and he never looked back. And we know the rest of his story.
I personally have known only a few people with unshakable faith. I mean faith that causes them to follow God into a place most wouldn’t dare to go. Those that make choices He asks them to make that requires courage that I personally haven’t experienced. What do they know of God that I don’t yet know?
I want you to meet one of these people with incredible faith. Her name is Carol Figlioli. She is the subject of the Walk With Me episode “Let my children go.” As I listened to the story of God leading her step by step in rescuing 146 children in an Iris Global children’s home out of a S. Sudan war zone, I was overwhelmed many times by her faith, tenacity, and unwavering belief in her Heavenly Father to carry them through to safety. I have had the thought many times that this is just like an Old Testament story. Truly. Remarkable would not be an overstatement.
Faith was crucial to their story and ultimately God rescued these children out of a war zone because of His great love….the greatest force on earth. And most of us will never be asked to rescue children out of a war zone but all of us are required to be strong and courageous and walk in greater faith at different times in our life. I want to be inspired to walk strong and tall and I want you be to encouraged too.
Carolyn is in the US for a short time and I have asked her to share her story with us. She will be here Monday evening, March 26th at 7 pm at Encourager Church on Houston, TX.
I hope you will put this on your calendar and make plans to be inspired by a one in a million soldier for Christ. We will also pour out our love for Him and encounter His love for us. There’s nothing like it.
